Puerto Galera


Puerto Galera is located on the north shore of Mindoro Island, Philippines, 130 kilometers south of Manila and 14 nautical miles from Batangas City. Puerto Galera, or "Port of Galleons" literally translated in Spanish, received its name from Spanish seafarers in the 16th century. This excellent natural harbor surrounded by forested mountain ranges became a regular stopover and a safe haven from typhoons for merchant vessels as early as the 10th century.

Today, Puerto Galera is the most popular tourist spot in Mindoro. It is well known for its beautiful white beaches and numerous snorkeling/diving sites. It has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in Asia and it is the top diving destination in the Philippines. White beach and Sabang beach are among the popular beaches in Puerto Galera. The climate in Puerto Galera is tropical with hot and dry season from March to May; cool and dry season from November to February;  and rainy season from June to October.
